Shopping Cart operation  

This shopping cart makes use of cookies on you computer. In order for the shopping cart to function the browser security settings may need to be adjusted. In Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options and select the Security tab. Select the 'medium' setting. Also, select the Privacy tab and again select the medium setting. These are the suggested setting for Microsoft Explorer. This website does NOT place damaging material is onto your computer.

For Internet Explorer 7 go to the Tools menu, select Internet Options, select the Privacy tab and select the Accept All Cookies option.

     
Shopping Cart
Adding items to the cart
 

To add items to the shopping cart, first navigate to the item of interest and then click on the 'Add to Cart' button. The shopping cart will then be shown.

     
Removing items from the cart  

To remove items from the shopping cart click the 'Remove' button to the left of the item description in the shopping cart. The 'Remove All' button deletes all the items from the shopping cart.

     
Changing the quantity of items in the cart  

To update the quantity of an item in the shopping cart, first type the desired quantity into the quantity box to the right of the item price and then click the 'Update' button to the right of the item quantity. The costs are adjusted accordingly.

Setting the item quantity to zero will delete that item from the shopping cart.

     
Post and packing  

The cost of post and packing is calculated automatically as items are added to the shopping cart. The post and packing is automatically combined wherever possible. For postage to the UK the postage is automatically set as Recorded (Signed for) delivery, this cannot be changed.

The post and packing is only displayed if there is a cost for post and packing. Post and packing is not shown if only gift vouchers are ordered.

     
Post and packing region  

The post and packing region is selected by clicking the 'Change Region' button to the left of the postage cost. The regions available are; 'UK', 'Europe' and 'Rest of the World'. The post and packing cost is updated automatically as the region is changed.

If you are unsure which postal region you require then you can select your country from a list.

The post and packing region is only displayed if there is a cost for post and packing. Post and packing region is not shown if only gift vouchers are ordered.

     
Delivery Type  

UK:

In the UK, the postal options from the Royal Mail are; "Signed For" and "Special Delivery". To select "Special Delivery" simply click the 'Special Delivery' button above the Change Region button. To select "Signed For" delivery simply click the 'Signed For' button above the Change Region button. This button changes automatically depending on the current delivery type selected.

Non UK:

Outside of the UK the postal options from the Royal Mail are; "Airmail" and "Airmail Signed". To select "Airmail Signed" simply click the 'Add tracking' button above the Change Region button. To select "Airmail" delivery simply click the 'Delete tracking' button above the Change Region button. This button changes automatically depending on the current delivery type selected.

Any non-UK orders over a set value will be sent with "Airmail Signed" delivery. This is selected automatically by the shopping cart.

     
Minimum order value   There is a minimum order value in operation. The 'Proceed to Checkout >' button is disabled until the minimum order value is exceeded.
     
Checkout  

In order to place an order click the 'Proceed to Checkout >' button.

     
Customer Details
Your details  

In order to place an order we need your details; name, postal address and e-mail address. This information must be entered correctly to ensure a smooth transaction. Some fields are essential, these are marked; **. These must be complete before the your details can be accepted.

The Country in the Customer Details page is set to United Kingdom if the postal 'Region' in the shopping cart is selected as UK Recorded delivery. To enter a different Country please first select an alternative postal Region in the shopping cart.
To save your details for the future, click the 'Save Details' button. Please enter your address as in the sample below:

Removing your details   To remove your details click the 'Clear Details' button. This will remove the information from the display and from the long term store.
     
Payment method   In order to select a payment method click on the 'Payment Method >' button.
     
Add Comment and Select Payment Method
Adding a comment about the order  

A comment can be added about your order. This comment is added to the order details when the order is submitted to Hornby Train Restorations. Use the comment box to add any significant points regarding the order. The maximum size of the comment is restricted in length. The maximum length allowed is indicated and a counter is provided. Data entered once the maximum length is achieved is not accepted.

The 'Clear' button removes all the text from the comment entry box.

     
Sending the order  

In order to send the order to Hornby Train Restorations click on the 'Place Order>' button.

     
Making payment with a credit or debit card  

Selecting the 'credit / debit card' payment method will send the order information to Hornby Train Restorations. An order summary is then shown that can be printed as a record of the order. Click on the 'Pay with PayPal' button to redirect your browser to the PayPal website to make payment. Hornby Train Restorations will then contact you to confirm that payment has been received.

Please do not send any credit / debit card details directly to Hornby Train Restorations.

     
Making payment without a credit or debit card   Selecting the 'Other' payment method will send the order information to Hornby Train Restorations who will then contact you to confirm payment method.
     
Order Summary
Return to home page   Click on the 'Home' button to go to the Hornby Train Restorations website home page.
     
Recording your order   Click on the 'Print Page' button to open your normal print dialogue box. This allows the Order Summary page to be printed. This page is printer friendly.
     
Making payment with a credit or debit card   Click on the 'Pay with PayPal' button to redirect your browser to the PayPal website to make payment. Hornby Train Restorations will then contact you to confirm that payment has been received. Once payment has been made the web browser will return to the Hornby Train Restorations website.
     
Empty the shopping cart  

The shopping cart will automatically be emptied 1 hour after the last item is added to the shopping cart or 1 hour after an item quantity is changed within the shopping cart.

To empty the shopping cart immediately click the 'Remove All' button which is located within the shopping cart.
